Summary:
"Five years after his beloved wife's death, wealthy Quentin Chambers still hasn't returned to the church or his music ministry. Even his home is now devoid of music, and without his attention, Quentin's five children are getting out of control, until his mother steps in and hires him a live-in nanny. Montana is pretty, compassionate, church-going, and even has a beautiful singing voice. The children take to her right away, and soon enough Quentin finds his heart opening to faith, and love, once more. But not everyone loves Montana. A "friend" of Quentin's first wife, Chloe has been scheming to become the next Mrs. Chambers since the funeral. Chloe is convinced she's just one seduction away from a marriage proposal. Now she'll do whatever it takes to get rid of Montana, including blackmail, theft, and digging up a troublemaking man from Montana's past. But Chloe forgets she's got secrets of her own, and the tables may turn with a twist she never sees coming."-- From back cover.

Warren (Lies and Alibis, 2013) brings the Sound of Music story to modern wealthy Atlanta in this moving inspirational novel. Chloe had big plans for a relationship with billionaire Quentin, but five years after the death of his wife, they are not even engaged. Quentin's mother hires a young woman from the church choir to move in and take care of his five teenagers, and soon they all like her better than they do Chloe. Montana has found peace in God and needs this nanny job to tide her over for a year as she earns a teaching degree. She loves the teens she cares for and tries to help them find their music, which has been lost from the house since their mother's death. In the meantime, she helps Quentin heal and find God as well. While Chloe uses twenty-first-century gold-digger tricks to try and hang on to her bankroll boyfriend, Montana and her message of faith triumph. Warren's many fans will also enjoy novels by J. J. Murray while waiting for Warren's next romantic tale. Copyright 2014 Booklist Reviews.

Chloe Brooks is vexed that Atlanta multimillionaire widower Quentin Chambers has strung her along for five years. A true gold digger, Chloe has given it her best shot at the elusive wedding ring, starting by thrusting her surgically enhanced bosom in Quentin's face during his wife's fu-neral. Quentin is further distracted by Montana Ellis, the new nanny for his five children, who brings a Mary Poppins sweetness to the depressed household. Chloe realizes the power of a black lace teddy that allows her to spend Quentin's cash for Louis Vuitton bags and Louboutin heels. On the other hand Montana knows her way around a kitchen and encourages Quentin's children to joyfully sing church songs. These two women have no hope of coexisting in Quentin's world but his replacement wife decision is put on hold when out of desperation, Chloe concocts a nasty scheme to smear Montana. VERDICT Strong messages about the power of faith, church, and prayer carry this rags-to-riches romance with a definite fairy tale vibe. Savvy librarians will recommend this gentle read to patrons who are also dedicated church ladies. (c) Copyright 2013. Library Journals LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc.
